In this student experience blog, student ambassador Augusta Zuokemefa, a Master’s in Public Health student from Nigeria doing her describes her experience so far at UL, particularly the time she spends in the Glucksman Library.
As an international student from Nigeria, you are required to write an essay explaining why you want to come to Ireland, and I remember dedicating a whole paragraph to discuss the Glucksman Library. When I found out it was one of the biggest libraries in Ireland, I knew I had to come see it myself and believe me pictures do not do justice to the library. The facilities do not disappoint, and my expectations have been exceeded.

The Glucksman Library has become my second home and if ever you need to find me, be sure I will be there.
The library has various levels for whatever you need, from a quiet space to chat rooms to even private spaces for group discussions. Every visit offers a new experience, but I have found my favorite spot to be The Edge. I enjoy working in the Edge because of its monitors- as I love to multi-task and having two large screens makes writing a breeze.

One more reason why I spend so much time here is the fact that it’s super comfortable with the most amazing furniture. Usually, one would spend a small amount of time in the library due to discomfort but this is not the case in the Glucksman Library.

Other than the over 354,000 printed books, the library also has an online resource that allows you to access thousands of closed journals for free (https://www.ul.ie/library) – this is a top feature for me because I do a lot of research writing and having unlimited access to every article is a big win.

The Glucksman Library has something for everyone and if you ever get bored, all you need to do is change your position and you get a totally new experience.
This is your sign to take a trip to the Glucksman Library!
