As a PhD student, whether you are funded or not, it can be hard to save money. Here are a few saving tips that may help!
Tip One: Meal Prep

While this can be difficult, meal prepping can really help to save money. Cooking in bulk and planning out meals can be a great way to save money and also save time throughout the week!
Grocery stores like Aldi and Lidl are priced cheaper than other stores and for supplies there are cheap options like Mr. Price, Penneys, Guineys and Dunnes.
Tip Two: Airlines and Discounts
Another money-saving tip that can be helpful for planning conferences or just for taking flights is to look directly at airline websites to see if they offer discounts for students or young adults. For example, SAS offers decreased fairs for young adults.
Ryanair is also a cheap alternative when flying within Europe and they have an app that makes check-in super easy.
Tip Three: Read your emails
I know we get a million emails, just on Monday alone, but throughout the year there are different webinars, scholarships, and money-saving tips sent to various departments and resources at UL.
Tip Four: Grocery delivery
While it may seem not an effective way to save money, it really does help. It saves money, along with saving time! Giving you more time to meal prep and enjoy this beautiful campus and city!
