So, you’ve landed in a new country as an exchange student and the overwhelming excitement of studying abroad is hitting you hard. But hold on, if you’re from the United States you may be thinking, where are the classic comfort foods? Where is that trusty Chipotle bowl or that delicious Crumble cookie? Don’t even get me started on Shake Shack… So, maybe Ireland doesn’t have that ‘comfort food,’ but don’t worry, I’ve got the perfect place for you to try out. 

If you’re like me a burger and shake is a meal that will always hit the spot. If you’re looking for this perfect duo, look no further, let me introduce you to Locke Burger. This place is my favorite spot to grab a quick bite for lunch around campus. It’s got all the classic goodness without you having to empty your pockets. There are four Locke Burger locations and while I haven’t ever been to the Bunratty location, there are two other spots in Limerick City which are ideal if you’re out in town.  The one closest to campus is a quick 15-minute walk from the main campus which goes by fast when you’re looking forward to the end result! 

Okay let’s talk about the lunch meal deal because there’s nothing better than a great deal on a delicious meal. From the hours of 12 PM to 4 PM on the weekdays, Locke Burger has a meal deal where you can get any burger on the menu AND a side of their delicious rosemary salt fries for only €10. Yes, you read that right, ten euros for a nice burger and a hefty portion of fries.  

Let’s be honest though, what’s a burger and fries without a milkshake? Locke Burger has that available for you too. As someone from the United States, specifically North Carolina, I have a serious addiction to the milkshakes from Cookout, so trust me when I tell you these Locke Burger shakes are delicious and worth the small price of €5. Locke burger also has a monthly milkshake for a little bit extra, but it is always worth it. If you’re also a vegetarian like me, Locke Burger has an impossible meat vegetarian burger which is so good it has the potential to make the most serious meat-lovers second-guess themselves. Oh, and if you prefer something with more vegetables, Locke Burger also has a pretty good salad collection. Also, if burgers aren’t really your thing, Locke Burger has chicken sandwiches, wings, mozzarella sticks, and other yummy stuff.  

But don’t stop reading yet! If you are the type of person who needs a sweet treat after a meal, as I am in many such cases, Locke Burger has a nice selection of desserts. Think about build-your-own cheesecake, cookie skillets, brownies, and more where that came from.  So, if you need an affordable lunch which leaves you with all the best comfort meal feels go ahead and walk over to Locke Burger. Trust me, you leave wanting to come back.
