In this personal blog, student ambassador Ellen Cruise from Seattle, United States describes why she chose to return to UL to complete her Master’s degree in Marketing Consumption & Society after getting to experience a semester abroad her during her undergraduate degree!
When the time came to decide where to pursue my master’s degree, the choice was abundantly clear: the University of Limerick (UL) beckoned me back with its magnetic charm and promising opportunities. After spending a semester here on a study abroad program in the United States, deciding to return for a 1-year master’s programme was an effortless decision. Everything from the beautiful campus has to offer, to the rich discussions in lecture halls, to the immersion in Irish culture, here are the reasons why I decided to return to UL:

Nostalgia and Enriching Memories
Having spent a transformative semester abroad at UL during my undergraduate years, I couldn’t help but be drawn back to the picturesque campus nestled along the River Shannon. The memories of my previous semester were magical. They were filled with personal growth, new friendships, and academic enlightenment. Returning felt like coming home to a place where learning was not just a task, but a genuine pleasure.

One of the standout features of UL is its vibrant and diverse community. The opportunity to interact with people from every corner of the globe is an unparalleled experience. The melting pot of cultures, ideas, and perspectives fosters an environment that nurtures understanding, tolerance, and acceptance. It’s not just a university; it’s a microcosm of the world.

The cornerstone of any great educational institution is its faculty, and Kemmy Business School boasts an exceptional team of educators. These brilliant minds are not just teachers; they are mentors, guiding students through the labyrinth of knowledge with unwavering passion. Their dedication to fostering a love for learning is contagious, creating an atmosphere where curiosity is not just encouraged, but celebrated. Kemmy Business School’s triple accreditation is a testament to its commitment to academic excellence. The global recognition it receives is not merely a badge of honor; it’s a guarantee of quality education. Being part of an institution with such prestigious accolades provides an assurance that my master’s degree will be valued and respected worldwide, opening doors to a myriad of opportunities in the future.
A Truly International Classroom
In today’s interconnected world, understanding diverse markets and cultures is crucial, especially for a master’s program centered around marketing. The composition of my course, predominantly comprising international students, presents an invaluable opportunity. Engaging with classmates from different parts of the world provides insights into global markets, customs, and business practices that textbooks alone cannot offer. It’s an enriching experience that prepares me for the challenges of a globalized workforce.
My decision to return to the University of Limerick for my master’s degree is a celebration of the love for learning, the appreciation for diversity, and the aspiration to be a part of a globally acclaimed academic community. At UL it doesn’t feel like I’m just pursuing a degree; I am immersing myself in a transformative journey that will challenge me and help me grow to become a leader in the future. If you’re considering UL as a home, this is my encouragement to you to discover the joys of learning and embracing the endless possibilities that await at UL’s doorstep.
