A disconnect between name and quality can exist. Names can, however, also be indicative of quality. Such is the case with Sodalicious, a local eatery with an apt title.
Sodalicious is a combined café-restaurant which serves various baked goods and satiating meals in both Limerick City Centre and Castletroy. Its name derives from soda bread, a popular Irish entity cherished nationally. Everything from scones to cheese toasties are available to order, letting all customers find something suitably scrumptious in this place where past and present collide to produce an exquisite experience.

I had long wanted to eat at Sodalicious. Ever since I first walked past it en route to class last semester, I had desired a delectable sweet with a cup of tea. To mark the occasion of the start of the Spring 2025 semester, so I ate at the Castletroy location, adjacent to the Travelodge and just minutes from Aldi.
My culinary experience at Sodalicious was brief but outstanding. I ordered both a chocolate cookie and cup of black tea, both of which arrived almost immediately. The cookie, a cocoa creation with white chocolate chips embedded throughout, was suitably sweet with a mix of chewy and crunchy components. The tea complemented the cookie, yielding an excellently energised start to my day. This order was a paragon of culinary perfection.
This restaurant’s level of customer service during my visit was impeccable. As soon I entered the building, my server seated me whilst handing me a menu. I received my properly prepared order within minutes. My server assisted me as I requested throughout my meal, and the payment process was both fast and effortless.
Aesthetically, Sodalicious is a combination of past and present. The exterior, replete with hanging lights and a welcoming aurora, is like any modern building. The interior resembles a rustic country house with a modern touch, as if farmers and interior designers agreed to create a room featuring wooden floorboards and seating pieces alongside modern colours and mouthwatering pictures of sample menu items. This calm, cosy, atmosphere provides diners with a unique gastronomic experience.

This establishment is marvellous but not without its shortcomings, namely its discrepancies between what is advertised online and what is offered in person. Specifically, Sodalicious’ website, which allows both delivery and pick-up options for those interested, shows numerous menu items. When I tried ordering some of them during my visit, however, none were available. To be fair, I ate there on a Thursday morning, so the menu could well change depending on the day, time and/or location. Still, it is worth knowing what is shown on this restaurant’s website may not be in stock in person, thereby necessitating secondary options – like with my choice of cookie instead of the scone I had wanted, which became an amazing alternative. Otherwise, my experience was fantastic.
Overall, Sodalicious is a phenomenal culinary establishment worth visiting. Given Sodalicious’ tasty treats and meals, impeccable customer service and astounding aesthetics, everyone seeking succulent sustenance can appreciate its options. There really is something here for everyone, and the experience is extraordinary. Also, this eatery’s strategic location near Aldi on the way to UL is ideal, allowing for a particularly pleasant time. Really, all visitors can enjoy Sodalicious.
