In this personal blog, student ambassador Lucy Edith Kiiza, a MA in Journalism student from Uganda, reflects on the time she has spent so far here at the University of Limerick and why she choose UL in the first place.

Have you ever wondered what makes a university truly exceptional? For me, the answer is simple – the University of Limerick (UL). As I reflect on my decision to move to Ireland and pursue my master’s at UL, it’s evident that this institution has not only offered a place of excellent education but also has become my happy place.

Why UL, people often ask me? My answer is always, what’s not to love about University of Limerick?

From the moment I set foot on campus, I knew I had made one of the best decisions of my life this year.

Choosing Ireland as my study destination was a decision fueled by a myriad of reasons. Yet, at the heart of it all was the allure of the University of Limerick.

The campus, nestled in the picturesque surroundings, offered an atmosphere of warmth and inclusivity for me. It is not merely a place where I attend classes; it’s a community that embraces diversity and has fostered my personal growth.

Academically, UL stands out with its commitment to excellence. My faculty is not just knowledgeable but has nurtured mine and my classmate’s potential.

The diverse range of programs has ensured that there’s something for everyone, and the cutting-edge facilities provide an environment conducive to learning and innovation.

Beyond academics, the vibrant student life at UL is a testament to its dynamic community. From cultural events to sports, there’s always something happening at the University of Limerick.

This lively atmosphere has contributed to the overall well-being of students and makes the university experience truly unforgettable.

But what truly sets UL apart is the feeling of finding my happy place here. It’s more than just a slogan for me; it’s a lived reality.

The supportive environment at UL coupled with the friendships forged, has created a sense of belonging that is unparalleled for me.

UL isn’t just a steppingstone to a degree for me, it is a transformative journey that has left an indelible mark on me and has greatly impacted my life positively.

The University of Limerick isn’t just a place of education for me, it has become a destination where my dreams have been realized, I have formed friendships and discovered happiness.
