Ever since I have joined UL last September, I have been living every single moment here with great enthusiasm and bliss. The reason is, I have never felt like I am away from my home, since it has everything that you need. Be it the Tuesdays’ Farmers market in the courtyard where you get a spice of different cuisines across the world, or a soccer game with the folks, UL offers all that you need to get away from academic fever and take a breath off from your assignments.
I am passionate about traveling, exploring new places, meeting new people from different diverse cultures. After being a part of the UL family, I felt like I was at the right place to match these interests, as I have expanded my networks where I made some great connections from people across the globe. Much thanks to the weekend trips organised by the different clubs & societies here, which makes it easy for us to ‘have the craic’ and cherish the real Irish experience. Climbing the biggest mountain in Ireland, Carrauntoohil with UL’s most celebrated Outdoor Pursuit Club was a life time adventure where we hiked for nearly 5 hours to the summit point. All these trips are organised by the event conveners at an affordable price, which is another highlight that is worth sharing. Visiting the vibrant Wicklow mountains and witnessing the real beauty of the Cliffs of Moher was all possible because of the UL International Society.
The best part of my life in UL is the UL Sport Arena and the outdoor facilities here, that supports a wide variety of sports and games. You name a sport and its not far from reach here, where we have a dedicated club or society for several recreational activities. I am a member of UL Social Soccer, UL Table Tennis and the Soccer Club, which organises matches every week. I never thought I could ever play soccer with people from different countries before joining UL. I am extremely delighted with the fact that I have made some great relationships with people of similar interests, that would remain forever in my life.
Life in UL has been a complete package for me. I have always ensured that I am engaged with some activities, thank to the lively campus and the outstanding facilities. Yet, I notice that the University is improving the facilities every year to accommodate and attract more students, which need to be appreciated. My favourite scene in the campus, the Maguire’s pitch was open recently which is a world-class outdoor facility spread across the south end of the campus. After coming here, I realised why University of Limerick is regarded as one of the best Sports University in Ireland.
