As a PhD student, it can be challenging to find a balance between work and your personal life. Below are a few tips from one PhD student to another that may help when deciding to do a weekend or day trip to the Aran Islands.

Tip One: Storage

Make sure that you have some sort of waterproof backpack or adequate storage for school work and/or research, if you need to bring it along with you!

Tip Two: Phone Service

There is great service on the island(s) for your cell phone, which can be great if you need to look something up or send a quick email.

Tip Three: Time to recharge

The island(s) are so peaceful that it feels like you’re in a movie! They are a great way to recharge your batteries and just listen to the relaxing waves!

Tip Four: Wifi and Work

If you need to connect to Teams or attend a meeting, parts of the island(s) have wi-fi reception! You can also find pubs/restaurants with lots of seating that may be great for sending off that last email!
